Between the 28th and 30th of November, 2019, BOND project partner Eco Ruralis organized a series of events in Cluj Napoca, Romania.
On 29th of November, from ProEntranse (BOND Project partner from Moldova), a delegation of 3 persons participated at the international policy roundtable which has been also attended by participants from both Eastern and Western European countries.
Participants debated under the general theme of “Collective action for access to farmland”. The event was focused on the opportunities brought by the EU Common Agricultural Policy and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants bring for farmers and land managers in Eastern Europe. During the event the discussions where focused on the following topics:
- What are the hurdles for farmers’ access to land?
- What are the opportunities on a grassroots or policy level?
- How can we innovate the land use?
- How can we collectively think about farmland?
On the second day of participation, on 30th of November, during the session 1 – Collective action on access to land: What have we accomplished?, from ProEntranse, Mr. Iurie Usurelu, National Expert on agricultural sector had a presentation about the land reform in Republic of Moldova and challenges with which farmers are facing. Respective session was focused on sharing grassroots and public policy advancements on access to land at different levels.
On the second part of the day, during the session 2, discussions where focused on how international market – based processes or human rights oriented policy tools can be used by farmers, policy makers and other experts to improve land rights and access to land for farmers.
